Business’s Crucial Need for Firewalls

Most business owners have heard of firewalls, but those that haven’t aren’t aware of how essential these are to their cybersecurity. Firewalls are essential for any business who wants to put up a defense against outside threats and cyber attacks.

These methods of cybersecurity can protect the vulnerable layers of your systems and without a stable firewall, you’re going to be putting your business information and your customer information at risk.

Firewalls are one way to add to your business security, but other security methods that a business has to have include regular assessments, employee training and awareness endpoint protection and data backups. Other security methods can also include patch management and web and email filtering. All of these layers add thicker protection to your business.

So, What IS A Firewall?

Firewalls are software or firmware that act as a barrier between online networks to block certain traffic or attacks. It’s the guard at the gates of your business, preventing suspicious sources from infiltrating your business.

Cybersecurity services can help you to put these firewalls in place in your business, and these are designed to allow traffic to your website that is low-risk, and block the high-risk traffic that could add harm to your business.

Why Are These So Important?

Without a firewall on your network you won’t be able to protect your business from intruders. Here are some of the tasks a firewall can perform.

Stopping Hackers

Businesses are taking a digital approach to data storage, but hackers are also getting better at what they do. Firewalls can protect your business from connections that are unauthorized and stop hackers from taking your information.

Traffic Monitoring

Firewalls will safeguard your network by monitoring and sorting incoming and outgoing traffic. Your cybersecurity team can continue to monitor traffic 24/7 with the use of a firewall.

Better Privacy

Firewalls are keeping your network safe, which can ensure that your brand reputation is positive. Your customers need to know that they can trust you with their information.

Types of Firewalls

There is more than one type of firewall out there and knowing which is which will help you to make the right choice for your business. Each of these firewall types have their own benefits and disadvantages, and that’s why next-generation firewalls are so popular.

Next-generation firewalls put the strengths of all of the older versions of a firewall into one, which includes things like antivirus technology, deep packet inspection, encrypted traffic inspection and more.

These are far more advanced than the traditional firewalls, and the benefits of this type of firewall include the fact that there is advanced risk detection. It’s the gold standard protection for your business and without it, your business could suffer.

5 Most Beautiful Churches in the United States

Europe indeed has a rich history of churches and religious sites. Many think that it is a must to travel to Europe to see beautiful church buildings and chapels. However, this is not the case since even the United States has plenty of beautiful churches worth visiting. Do people doubt it? Check out the following five beautiful sacred landmarks in the United States.

1. Washington National Cathedral

The church is located in the United States capital and earns a reputation as the most beautiful church in the United States. It is made up of the Notre-Dame-esque façade and a stained-glass towering window, making it look stunning. Don’t miss to have a look at the garden surrounding the church as it is also gorgeous. Also, visit the church interior, and people will be overwhelmed by its beauty. It also has a gallery that allows visitors to look at the city’s panoramic view. Undoubtedly, the church is beautiful, and they will enjoy seeing every bit of it.

2. Saint Luis Cathedral

The church is also known as the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Luis. The church was designed by four architects, making Father Rutler think that it is the most beautiful church in the United States. He also says that it is the most beautiful since it has a designed chapel of virgin and all saints. Furthermore, the church has unique mosaics, which were created by the Tiffany Company in 1912. The pastor says that he enjoys the uniform entire structure and the balcony level stained glass windows created by a different designer. If people want to see its beauty, attend one of the weekly masses at the cathedral.

3. Saint Mary of Angels

St Mary of angels’ construction work began in 1899. The church is magnificent as it is designed to resemble the Roman Saint Peter’s Basilica. There, if people want to see the beauty of St. Peter Basilica, they don’t have to travel to Europe since we have the twins in the United States. The church carries the top pieces of Roman Renaissance architecture, which makes most people visit it. It also has fully rebuilt 26 roof angles whose beauty catches the attention of every bypasser.

4. Cathedral of Saint Paul

The church building of Saint Paul was completed in 1958, and it is one of the most beautiful churches in the United States. The cathedral’s exterior walls are made up of the Saint Cloud Granite, which makes it look very beautiful. Furthermore, it has well decorated American Travertine interior walls from Mankato. Visit the church one day and see the beauty for yourself.

5. Saint Mary Catholic Church
Several things make this church beautiful such as stained-glass windows, gorgeous designs, and ornate paints, among many others. The great paints require conservation and a great deal of restoration to keep them in a beautiful state. Therefore, if tourists wish to visit the beautiful churches in the United States, George Rutler suggests that Saint Mary Catholic Church must be on that list.

Training Your Brain to Become Mentally Tough written by John Jantsch read more at Duct Tape Marketing

Marketing Podcast with Dr. Jason Selk

In this episode of the Duct Tape Marketing Podcast, I interview Dr. Jason Selk. He’s a performance coach who works with business executives and athletes as a director of mental training for the St. Louis Cardinals. He played an important role in the team’s first world series victory in more than 20 years in 2006 in their second, in 2011. He holds a doctorate in counseling and sports psychology. He’s the author of a book called Executive Toughness, but we’re going to talk today about his new book called Relentless Solution Focus: Train Your Mind to Conquer Stress, Pressure, and Underperformance.

Questions I ask Dr. Jason Selk:

  • What is relentless solution focus?
  • If the most successful people are able to focus on solutions when problems in their lives arise – are they born with this ability or can this be learned?
  • What do you say to those that might say this is just another package around the idea of positive thinking?
  • Some people may feel like they have or had this way of positive thinking down, but their lives were shaken up in these last 10 months – what advice would you give to these people?
  • Are there things that people should stop doing?
  • You work with business executives  – what role did their egos play in getting in the way of you helping them?
  • What do you do with that person who just feels like I’m at zero?

More About Dr. Jason Selk:

What Is Digital Distancing?

We have all heard of social distancing, but what about digital distancing? If you’re a business owner, this is a term that you may have come across, but what exactly is it?

Just as the pandemic rages on, so to do cybercriminals. The best way to avoid the threat they pose is to engage in digital distancing. This is a practice you should use to put space between your work devices and anybody intent on causing your business harm.

This is especially important now as you let your employees work from remote locations. Should a hacker gain access to the devices and networks they are using, there could be catastrophic results.

How To Incorporate Digital Distancing

Your main goal is to minimize the number of networks, servers, and other devices that your business devices come into contact with. You can do this by encouraging your employees to work on business-related servers only, or by reducing the number of work-related devices they use in the office or at home.

It’s about limiting the opportunities hackers have to gain hold of the sensitive data that may be held on your network. And it’s also about isolating user access, so even if one device is affected by malware, it won’t have a chance to spread further.

To ensure your digital distancing efforts are successful, you should:

Work with a managed IT provider

If you don’t currently have an IT team in your employ, it is in your best interests to outsource to a professional team. An IT company in Englewood can help you create digital distancing plans to secure your networks, and a trusted provider will use the latest antivirus and malware software to keep your devices safe.

Manage your video conferencing security

You will probably be using video conferencing now more than ever, especially if you are working remotely. This is understandable, but cyber criminals have now found ways to hack into these video calls. They can interrupt your meetings, create a breach in your company’s system, and share malicious data.

This has become known as Zoom bombing, and all kinds of computer users are being affected by these attacks. To protect your video calls, follow digital distancing protocols, such as limiting the number of people who are invited to your video calls and reducing the number of people who have the link to your chat rooms. You should also ensure that only call leaders have the option to share their screens as administrators.

Encourage your employees to follow good habits

Encourage your employees to:

  • Limit the number of devices they use
  • Only use their work-related devices on one server and router
  • Keep their anti-virus software up to date
  • Keep their home smart devices off their home office network
  • Avoid dangerous links sent to their emails
  • Use strong passwords to protect their devices

You should follow the same principles, be that in your home or in your business premises.

Keeping Your Business Secure

Keeping your work-related devices safe from malware and hacking attempts is a priority, as any attack could result in a breach of your data. Through digital distancing, you can limit the number of devices that are used, isolate them from your other devices, servers, and networks, and place a limit on what your employees use within your business.

Marketing Podcast with Sarah Santacroce

In this episode of the Duct Tape Marketing Podcast, I interview Sarah Santacroce. She’s setting out to change the marketing paradigm. For 12 years, she was running a successful LinkedIn consulting business, which inspired a great deal of the work that goes then into the gentle marketing revolution. We’re talking about her new book: The Gentle Marketing Revolution

Questions I ask Sarah Santacroce:

  • What are some of your favorite ways that marketing is broken?
  • Some people fall prey to copying what they see. A perfect example – you had a LinkedIn consulting business, and I get 10-12 pitches a day that are very similar on LinkedIn. So what do you say to the person who falls prey to that very idea?
  • People are often afraid of their marketing not being effective without using the things that become really popular – how do you get past this?
  • What’s the framework for gentle marketing?
  • Are we just trying to say be more human or is it really more about being empathetic in your marketing as well?
  • How does the process work for launching your book via Kickstarter?
  • Since you have the word revolution in the title of your book, what are your continued plans for turning this into a movement?

How Did Tex-Mex Food Get So Popular

Tex-Mex is a cuisine that is so popular in the United States of America. Tex-Mex rose from being a Tejano home cooking to attracting more people in San Antonio. It was initially popularized for serving cheap and delicious food. Tex-Mex is known for its maximum use of shredded cheese, beans, meat, spices, and peppers. The additional meal is tortillas. Diego Ruiz Duran enjoys eating comfort food from Tex-Mex. He is among Mexico’s leading lawyers dealing with criminal defense cases. Here is how Tex-Mex got the chance to rise to be famous.

The Tex-Mex History of Popularity

Tex-Mex was initially an abbreviation for Texas and Mexican Railroad that was chartered in 1875. It was later described for people who have Mexican descent in the 1920s. The hyphen was applied in the name Tex-Mex to refer to Tejanos. The name was meant to show that it was a Mexican-style food that was typical for that region. This cuisine has gone through a lot of struggle to be recognized and respected. It was initially compared to be a corrupted, low-quality traditional Mexican cuisine.

Tex-Mex cuisine got to the limelight in the 1880s thanks to the delicious and cheap food brought out. A group of women brought out the food. These women were known as the chilli queens from the city’s plazas. The main dish that drew a larger crowd was the steaming bowl of chilli con Carne. The group consisted of locals and tourists. It is currently the signature meal of Tex-Mex. The meal is served along with a glass of water and bread. The chilli queens became famous. Their fame made San Antonio to be recognized as the capital of Tex-Mex cuisine.

In 1893 during the World’s Fair in Chicago, fairgoers got a taste of the best meal in San Antonio. They got to eat chilli pepper stew at the cuisine. Additionally, a German immigrant moved to San Antonio to sell his brand of chilli powder. The chilli powder made a hit even though the Mexican chefs disdained his blend of flavors. San Antonio became the originality of the Tex-Mex standard, which was known as the combo plate.

In 1900, Otis Farnsworth from the Original Mexican restaurant started a new trend. He began serving an entree along with rice and beans. Other Mexican restaurants started copying the combination platter. They now improved it to being topped with sour cream and melted cheese. This meal became the signature of Tex-Mex cuisine.

The Tex-Mex cuisine rises to being popular because of the unique, delicious food they serve, and that is why people like Diego Ruiz Duran love it so much. Another food that made it famous was nachos. It became famous after nachos were introduced to travelers eating at the cuisine. No one was in the kitchen at that time. Thus Anaya made impromptu meal tortillas. The women loved the food, and they spread the word to other people calling the food “Nacho Especial”.

In Conclusion

Tex-Mex is now a famous cuisine in the United States. Its popularity came through word of mouth from people who enjoyed eating their food. Moreover, the food they served was delicious and cheap. Therefore, attracting more people to have a taste of it. The delicious meal made up the exciting history of Tex-Mex cuisine becoming popular.

Identifying With Your Demographic To Achieve Success: In Conversation With Fitness Expert Derek

Throughout Derek’s time on social media, he has identified gaps within the men’s self-improvement space. Derek believes that a lot of the content in the self-improvement space is basic and repetitive. Derek is not afraid to challenge this by leaving no topic off-limits. Instead, he focuses on the content that he believes will be of value to his loyal subscribers and customers, even if the topic is something that the majority of YouTubers would be uncomfortable talking about.

He has built up over 330,000 subscribers and 70 million views on his YouTube channel More Plates More Dates, and has built a large following on his written blog MorePlatesMoreDates.com as well.

How does one know what will be perceived as valuable by your target demographic?

Derek’s whole brand is geared towards guys just like him. In his own words, Derek says, “Any business I launch either provides a product or service I have paid for myself before, or I deem to be valuable enough that I would pay for it myself.” This seems like a simple and logical concept, but it seems that many entrepreneurs still dig and try to reinvent the wheel, rather than focusing on what their bread and butter is. When Derek releases a product or service, if he would spend his own money on it, it is quite likely that many of his subscribers who resonate with his content would also perceive that product as valuable too. This has been the hallmark of Derek’s business endeavors, and has led to much of his success.

Unique from other self-improvement channels, Derek also intertwines science-based biology, endocrinology and pharmacology information into his content. This unique twist distinguishes the More Plates More Dates channel on YouTube, and helps viewers get a more thorough understanding of how they can go about optimizing their health, or what kind of diagnostic testing to get from a doctor. This kind of content has transitioned into the launch of his hormone replacement clinic Marek Health.

Whether it be a science-based approach to hair loss prevention, or proactively taking measures to stay as healthy as possible while bodybuilding, Derek creates unique content that is not the norm in the self-improvement niche. This has been a key factor in Derek’s success, again founded by his ability to fill a gap he identified in the market.

A very important factor to becoming successful in any market is actually having a passion for it. Derek has no shortage of that. Derek’s consistency in his research, brand and product promotion, and overall dedication to helping men improve their lives is something that is invaluable in the self-improvement space. Derek is a gimmick-free, honest guy who is deeply enthralled with Men’s Self Improvement and that is clear through his dedication to his businesses. These are not always common attributes of self-improvement spokespersons, and that is typically pretty transparent in their presentation. Derek recognizes the need for transparent, evidence-based, passionate influencers in the Men’s Self Improvement Space and leads by example. This results in a loyal and growing fan base who support his brand, leading both parties to great success. A win-win! If you aren’t truly enthusiastic about what you are producing content about or are selling and you are in it solely for the money, it is unlikely that you will be successful and happy long-term.

Importance of Transparency in News Reporting

There can be no argument that the media is more influential today than ever before. Millions of Americans look to the media to learn about and understand the events taking place in our country. Unfortunately, across the board, there is a stark difference in the reporting that comes from media platforms that are often heavily slanted in the direction of one party or opinion. This is mainly due to the interpretation of the Constitution and the values of those reporting.

Considering that the majority of people are under educated about the Constitution and historical precedence, the wrong kind of reporting can cause confusion, frustration and, as we have seen in recent months, a sort of sheep mentality that can be dangerous to the foundation of our country.

Syndicated Columnist, Andrew Napolitano understands the importance of being clear and direct while reporting a story. His years as a judge and contributor to numerous publications have provided readers and listeners with straightforward, factual information. His contributions to coverage of events that affect the lives of millions are grounded in law, legal precedent and truth, the gold standard of reporting.

Sensationalism and ratings grabs when reporting the news have become the new norm in many mainstream outlets, morphing into an entertainment of sorts as viewers watch and wait to see who will make the next move. This leaves the facts mired in a soup of hyperbole and instead of a clear fact based understanding of the events, viewers and listeners are left in more of an emotional state than a clarifying one.

Andrew Napolitano‘s experience as a judge in the N.J. The Superior Court has given him the background of law, a deep Constitutional understanding and his opinions are backed by those and legal precedent that he believes would lay the groundwork for future decisions.

Although sometimes unpopular because they go against the mainstream ideas, these opinions are consistent and his readers and listeners can count on clear and direct reporting of the facts, events, and their impact on the lives of the people. Upholding the standards of reporting by not only presenting facts accurately but also portraying the whole story factually are the key to this kind of concise news reporting. This is the standard that you can expect from his clear and direct reporting of the events as they present themselves.

A Father’s Impact on Shaping Their Children

The family is the basis of life, the smallest unit of an organization where all the family members learn what to do in life for the best outcome. Through the family guidance, children understand their worthiness and ways of reacting to the external environment. Fathers play an important role as they influence the lives of the children in each society. They can impact their children right from their point of birth. They already have a big role in providing for their families and offer a significant impact on the lives of their children through emotional support too.

A father’s engagement goes a long way in the children’s social competence, learning outcomes, and even their later IQ. Children are likely to be working models of suitable paternal behaviors depending on the childhood experiences. For instance lack of a father eventually shapes their later parenting dynamic forces, like early marriages, prostitution, and psychological problems.

Andrew Napolitano, a former superior court judge in New Jersey who nowadays occupies the role of an analyst in Fox News is a public figure who has made phenomenal decisions on various aspects in his capacity without fear or prejudice. Such a strong will would demand the nurturing of a role model just like his father. After his father’s death, he profoundly expressed his love for him along with the values bestowed upon him. He condemns abortion and believes that each woman has a right to privacy and personal choices though he affirms that necessity prompts the right to life, which begins at conception. In another instance, he wrote a recent publication ‘suicide pact’ that criticizes how two American presidents handled the issue of civil liberty. Through these illustrations, we cannot doubt that his father was equally strong-willed and hence his current strong demeanor.

A father, therefore, plays an important role in imparting values to his children. Once kids start interacting with the outside world, they meet different people and experiences and can decide whether they have enough zeal to transform the future or just rely on their past. Fortunately, if they were raised with a role model father, like Andrew Napolitano, they learn to confront challenges and bargain for acceptable solutions that deem best for that situation. A male authority compliment encourages and even inspires children to appreciate success, bringing up a confident and courageous child.

In summary, a father plays a diversified role for his children and they eventually find a sense of belonging and affection. Amazingly, children do not just mimic their father’s values; they also think and make decisions that would work out best for them. Therefore, the father’s actions, choices, and values have a lasting impact and goes a long way to determine the nature of children putting every small detail to focus. Naturally, fathers stress rules, fairness, and justice in their quest for administering discipline. It is through such powerful influence that children learn to be objective and get deeper insights on how to survive in the real world.

Exercise’s Impact on the Mind

Time and time again, exercise has been proven to have both physical and mental benefits. This can be understood from the most basic level. Exercise causes an increased heart rate which increases the amount of oxygen flowing throughout the body and to the brain. In other words, your brain is functioning better and can think clearer. With this type of clarity, stress levels are sure to lower. Even on a psychological level, this rings true. Exercise releases chemicals in the brain known as endorphins, commonly known as the happy hormones. These chemicals affect our opiate receptors and cause feelings of euphoria and pleasure. This sensation is often associated with “runner’s high”; after an extended amount of cardio exercise, a heightened sense of well-being typically follows. This is also due to the fact that endorphins not only increase the sensation of feeling good but also decrease pain. Yes, a win-win! The body is capable of this dual effect naturally, without any external substances.

Exercise also helps one form a routine in their lives. With or without a physical trainer, exercise requires the practice of holding oneself accountable. For example, a workout regimen details a goal to work out every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Whether or not someone completes this fully, there is still a sense of accomplishment. Say Tuesday is too busy. There is a decision to move forward and adjust the day or have a small defeat be an end-all-be-all. Having a routine requires an ability to navigate how to move past inconveniences that is ultimately self-taught. Once one gradually implements and masters this, stress is sure to reduce in life. If this can be practiced through an exercise routine, it can be applied to all areas of life.

Shalom Lamm, a successful CEO and entrepreneur, is living proof of this. He believes success lies in inner wealth and much as outer. While one must give to others, they also must give back to themselves. Wealth extends outwards; if one starts on self-help, they form a healthier self better equipped to give back to others. He finds the time to exercise as much as possible to improve his mental health as much as the physical. As priorly mentioned, his consistent exercise regimen allows for a mental place of clarity. A place that is surely a great foundation for self-betterment. Especially in times that are dire as they are now, having and maintaining a sense of inner peace has never been so important.

Role-models like Shalom Lamm are humbling reminders that anyone is capable of building a more stable life through simplicity. With acts simple as going for a walk to increase those endorphins or moving a workout to a different day, one begins a journey towards self-agency and trust. Combining this improved relationship with self and the countless benefits of regular exercise, stress is sure to melt away.

My Favorite Gospel Singers

George Rutler is an outspoken parish priest who is well known across the country. The Manhattan-based priest appears on many TV programs, and he is also an author with over nineteen published books. In addition, he also earned degrees from several universities across America and Europe, including John Hopkins, Dartmouth, Oxford, and the Angelicum in Rome.

But what happens when he wants is away from the public and the press? Not surprisingly, he loves to listen to gospel music, with a strong inclination towards hymns. His love for this genre of music is in fact so strong that he wrote an entire book about it, “The Stories of Hymns.” Throughout this book, he highlights and expounds on some of the greatest hymns written through the Christianity timeline, leading right up to the twentieth century. So, who are some of his favorite composers and artists?

  1. Carlo Gesualdo

Carlo was the Prince of Venosa, and his legacy was highly expressive madrigals and sacred music that uses chromatic language. Other than his extraordinary music, Carlo Gesualdo is known for the gruesome murder of his wife and her lover.

After his father died, he grew his estate into a center for music-making, even though it was for him alone. His vast fortune allowed him to hire instrumentalists and singers for personal entertainment.

Even now, Carlo’s music remains among the most expressive and experimental in the Renaissance. However, there is no doubt that he is the wildest chromatic.

2. George Frideric Handel

This German-born composer is famous for his oratorios, operas, concerti Grossi, anthems, and concertos. Handel trained in Halle and went to practice as a composer in Italy and Hamburg before permanently relocating to London.
Messiah was a great success, even though it was the last Italian opera he composed. Some of his most popular work includes Music for the Royal Fireworks and Water Music. Over three decades, Handel composed well over forty opera series. Since the 60s, there has been increasing interest in his work, and his influence on classical era composers cannot be ignored.
3. Gustav Mahler

This Austro-Bohemian composer is recognized as one of the best of his generation. As a composer, his work was the bridge between 19th-century Austro-German and the modernism of the 20th century. Throughout his career, his status as a conductor remained impeccable, but his music was only widely recognized after a considerable time frame of neglect.

  1. Edward Elgar

Edward’s father was a piano tuner who was also a decent violin player, and his son followed in his footsteps. During the 1890s, Edward’s reputation as a composer was growing fast, with successful works such as the English Midlands, King Olaf, and the Black Knight.
His significant breakthrough came with the production of the Enigma Variations. This is a musical sketch of his friend, August Jaeger. The solemnity of this variation has made it a set piece for thousands of commemorations and memorial services. There is also a choral setting that uses text from the Requiem Mass, so it’s not hard to see why Edward is Father Rutler’s favorite artist.

Social Media For Accounting Firms: Strategies For 2021

Accountants are always in high-demand, but despite their importance, many companies are under patronized. What’s the problem? Though different businesses obviously face different challenges, for many accounting firms, the biggest barrier to growth is a lack of social media engagement.

If you’re looking for ways to boost your accounting firm’s appeal to clients and new employees alike, it’s time to recalibrate your social media strategy. As we move into 2021, these practices should form the foundation of your social outreach.

Assess Your SEO

SEO isn’t a social media-specific issue, but it is one of the most important professional skills today, and it will directly inform your firm’s success. Furthermore, your social media presence has the ability to either bolster or hinder your firm’s SEO rankings. Ideally, you’d have at least a part-time marketing professional working on your SEO and social media management, but how you proceed on these fronts will depend on the size of your firm, employee skills, and other factors.

Read The Signs

If your accounting firm is going to use social media, then you need to be able to interpret the related data, and that means mastering the analytics. Luckily, this is an area in which, once you’ve learned your way around the tools, accounting firms may have an edge. After all, compared to professionals in other industries, accountants are more likely to be able to spot data trends and interpret social media engagement data, and that will make it easier to spot underperforming content, identify the optimal time to post, and otherwise evaluate KPIs.

Practice Promotion

Because of the ways we all interact with social media today, most companies understand how social media marketing works to attract customers. Social media content isn’t just for customer-facing engagement, however. In fact, it’s a great way to grow your firm by promoting career advancement opportunities.

How can you connect with potential hires on social media? There are several approaches. For example, if your firm is looking to hire more CPAs, you might talk about the benefits of working for your firm. Or, you might highlight support you offer to recent graduates who want to take the CPA exam, such as reimbursement for prep courses or registration fees. You can also use platforms like Facebook to link directly to job postings or profile current employees.

Ensure Your Relevance

One of the major challenges facing accounting firms is that they tend to exist below the radar for the majority of the year. That’s because, unless they’ve got tax prep on the mind, accounting services aren’t a significant priority. That’s not ideal for business, however, especially since accounting firms offer a variety of other valuable services for businesses and individuals, though workloads do tend to be lighter outside of tax season.

Savvy accounting firms can use the offseason to generate valuable content, curate their social media presence, and build relationships that will keep them relevant year-round. Even if your services are of limited value to individuals outside of tax seasons, ensure that your brand stays at front of mind. It’s the best way to boost your client conversion and retention when peak season arrives.

A Complex Skill

Developing a successful social media marketing campaign is a challenging undertaking, and one that takes expertise to do successfully. If your brand hasn’t mastered this process in past years, then, don’t be surprised if it takes some time to get your campaign off the ground.

With time and attention, though, you’ll find that your business reaps the rewards of your new digital presence, both in terms of client growth and talent acquisition, not just during tax season, but in the long-term.

Outsource These 5 Services to Save Money

In the current climate, where businesses are continually searching for strategies to manage costs while maintaining competitiveness, outsourcing has become a core business function. Even for the budding and large companies, outsourcing is a powerful survival tool due to its numerous advantages, including cost control, reduced labor cost, and increased business efficiencies.

Statistics have proved that approximately 300,000 jobs are outsourced every year in the US. As a small business owner, you may be cautious when diving into the outsourcing domain. But what can you outsource?

1. IT

One of the business areas you should consider outsourcing is your IT department. Doing so will save you a lot of costs from:

  • Having to recruit extra employees
  • The need to increase the hours for your staff to finish jobs
  • Saving costs in upgrading your systems with new software after each advancement.

Although your team can handle your current IT solutions, will they be able to do so in the future? Modern IT infrastructure is becoming complex each passing day, from servers to database management services to cryptography; your business may require a whole list of specialists to keep your business systems running without interruption. Seeking managed services in Jacksonville can save you money while providing you with stellar IT solutions.

2. Accounting

Accounting is a fundamental business function you should consider outsourcing. Entrepreneurs who take charge of their small businesses’ bookkeeping needs consider it the most tedious aspect of maintaining the business. 40% of small business owners find accounting and tax preparation as the most stressful part of their management function. Meanwhile, recruiting a full-time accountant is expensive, with an annual median salary of $71,550, while the lowest-earning accounts staff earns at least $55,900.

3. Human Resources

Outsourcing your business’ HR means you can save time to focus on developing your small business. For most small businesses, investing time, cash, and energy in the human resource may appear inefficient. Modest assignments like finance and hours training staff eat into the time you could spend promoting business development.

4. Employees

Per the tax laws and guidelines, payroll may demand a real measure of time and effort to avoid errors, which can be expensive for your small business. There is significantly more to managing employee payroll than computing staff hours and pay-outs. A single mistake can trigger tax assessments and reviews, which may cost your business thousands of dollars. Therefore, it is essential to hire staff outside your business to offer specific services and products usually done by full-time employees. Strategically outsourcing employees won’t just save cost but provide your business with:

  • Skilled expertise
  • Decreased overheads
  • Increased efficiency
  • Reduced labor turnovers

For example, industries like project management, research analyst, and writing are considered best for freelancing and contracting.

5. Marketing

Your business can earn good leads and enhance its content customer relations with an effective marketing strategy. If you don’t have the financial muscle to recruit an in-house marketing expert, avoid investing your time and resources into creating content, knowing very well it is far beyond your expertise. The smart approach is to outsource.

While you may have to spend some funds when outsourcing, it can help develop your business and save money in the long run. Regardless of your business’ current size, you can still outsource due to freelancers’ and temporary workers’ availability, all thanks to technological advancements.

4 Ways To Cut IT Costs In 2021

With technology leading the way in all spheres of life, including business, IT is a significant aspect that organizations have to invest wisely in. Without a doubt, IT is a major force that drives digital innovations. It serves as a launching pad for new products and services, as well as creating exposure for the organization. But though investing in IT is excellent, it can be quite costly. Fortunately, here are four ways to cut IT costs for the new year.

Budget Review

Budgets are made to allocate predicted expenses and possible expenditure. Review your budget for the previous year and take a close look at how much was spent on IT and how it was spent. Take into account purchases that were made and what other expenses you are expected to make to ensure that the IT team runs smoothly. If you find that you spent too much on internal IT, consider outsourcing to managed services in Salt Lake City.

Identify which items are needed and rank them in order of need and priority. Also, engage with members of the IT team and find out what they need to operate effectively. Their input will help you to put together a budget that will be cost-effective and benefit the entire organization.

Create An Inventory

An inventory of all your IT equipment will come in handy when putting together a budget. A comprehensive list of what equipment you have and what state they are in will provide you insight into how much you will be spending on IT this year.

Your equipment may be in varying degrees of wear, and at certain stages, they may not be even functional and will be a drawback to your operations. Now make a list of items to be bought or replaced and arrange them according to your wants and needs. Place the needs higher up on the priority list and let the wants go lower. A fully functional IT department can make do with the needs, and the wants can come later.

Recurring Expenses

Recurring expenses are part of running a successful business, and the IT department definitely has its share. Such expenses may include payments for software license renewals, hosting for your website, cloud storage, and content management systems. Usually, these recurring expenses may not differ much from year to year.

You can make this a constant in the budget with minor upwards adjustments to cater to increments in payment. If you’re working with external companies providing managed services in Salt Lake City then you will have to communicate with them concerning charges and fees.

Align IT Goals To Business Goals

It makes business sense to align the IT department’s goals to the organization’s overall objective. This ensures that the system will be adapted to focus on objectives that are critical to the business. Make sure that the IT department prioritizes working together with other departments to achieve short-term goals that fit into the overall plans of the organization. This must be planned carefully, and the required budgetary allocations should be made. In the event of any budget cuts, take out long-term objectives, and focus on what is needed at hand.

IT will continue to spearhead the success of any organization in this modern digital age. Making smart budget allocations to improve the IT department continuously is a substantial investment for the future.

Tips to Spot Sophisticated Phishing Scams

We all receive dozens of emails every day. Businesses receive hundreds, maybe even thousands. And although some will be useful and perfectly legitimate, others will be what you would call “spam.” In other words, they are junk emails that are usually trying to sell you something.

And then there are the phishing emails. These are a little different, and whereas standard spam is fairly harmless (if annoying), a phishing email is potentially very dangerous. Essentially, a phishing email is one that attempts to extract personal information from you. It might be your address, your banking details, perhaps a credit card number.

It could be passwords or PIN codes or your mother’s maiden name. It might be any of these things, and although you would think they’d be easy to spot, these dangerous emails are becoming more and more sophisticated, and they are catching many people off-guard.

Phishing emails are bad news, but they are some signs to look out for that will help you determine whether an email you’ve received is legitimate or not, and you should also check for them before clicking on any links or giving away any information. Read on to find out more.

Errors: Grammar, Spelling & Formatting

Errors within an email are the most obvious sign that something is wrong, and they’re easy for recipients to check, just by reading through the email carefully.

Even if the email looks as though it’s from a real company, one that you use regularly perhaps, if the name is spelled wrong, if there are grammatical errors throughout, if there’s strange spacing or odd paragraphs, then it’s unlikely to be the real deal. A legitimate company will have certain quality controls in place, and it’s highly unlikely an email with numerous errors would ever be sent.

Sender Verification

You need to be sure that the email really came from the company it says it’s from. The quickest way to do this is to look at the email address it was sent from. A real email from a real company would have that company’s name in the tail of the email address. An email from Amazon, for example, would end @amazon.com.

Hackers and scammers don’t always have access to sophisticated equipment that would allow them to clone an email, so you’ll more than likely see that the email is from a free account such as Gmail or AOL. Even if the cybercriminal has gone to little more effort and bought a domain, it’s still not going to match up to the real thing, so take a moment to check this out.

Verify Links

It’s the links in these phishing emails that are the most problematic; click on one, and you’ll be taken to a specially created site that is designed to steal your identity and your money. This is why it’s vital to verify any links in these emails.

To do so, hover your mouse pointer over the link and you’ll be able to see exactly where the link is going to take you. Even if the link looks correct, it might be pointing somewhere else.

Don’t Open Attachments

Attachments can be just as problematic as links. They might be Office files (Word or Excel, for example), or PDFs. Sometimes images are attached. It doesn’t matter what the attachment is, unless you’re expecting it, don’t open it.

Are You Expecting It?

If you’re not expecting an email from your bank or an online store or an energy company, or you’ve done nothing to warrant the email being sent to you, it’s likely to be a phishing email trying to extract your information.

Many of these emails will tell you that an order you placed couldn’t be processed, or that you’ve changed some detail of your account and they just need to make sure the details are correct, or something similar. If you’ve not placed an order or changed any details, this email must be considered suspicious.

In other words, if the email doesn’t match an action you’ve taken and you’re not expecting to receive it, delete it.

Conclusion

Scammers are becoming more and more sophisticated in the way they try to con people out of giving away their important, sensitive information, and it can be hard to spot the phishing emails that arrive in your inbox.

By following the above points, you can certainly lower your chances of being scammed, and you can always find companies to train your employees on better cybersecurity safety.
